El Cary Park is located on Mockingbird Lane in El Cary Estates, with more than three
acres resting along the banks of Clear Lake. The view includes nearly all of Clear
Lake and its wildlife.
The frontage is protected with large rocks and generally includes a 174-foot pier
with a t-head suitable for crabbing, fishing and enjoying a sunset. There is also a
small ramp used for launching canoes, kayaks and SUPs.
As the primary amenity for El Cary Estates, the park is our first priority for working
together as a community. The fishing pier has been built and rebuilt several times
over the years. Hurricane Beryl was the last storm to destroy all but the pilings
and leave tons of debris and fallen trees and brush in the park. Volunteers worked
with our landscape crew to remove the debris. They will be working on removing
the fallen trees and brush in the coming months.
Luke LaVanda is the Chairperson for our newly formed Park Committee. Other
members are yet to be determined. This committee oversees conditions in the
park to ensure there are no safety hazards, that we have proper signage where
appropriate, and research and make recommendations for budgeted
improvements such as a fishing pier or platform, any picnic area items, member
access controls, mowing and trimming. The committee also seeks and acquires
matching grants for improvements to the park area.
The Park Committee is always looking for more members to help us make this
amenity the best it can be.
