Greetings, Neighbors!
Welcome to our new community website! This is your new place for official community news, events, updates to the park, and what’s going on at El Cary Estates and the broader Clear Lake area. You can meet our board members and our committee members; download a copy of our Articles of Incorporation, our By-Laws and our Restrictive Covenants along with the minutes of regular and special board meetings; get a page full of helpful numbers and information for utilities, city and county resources; and of course, a quarterly newsletter from yours truly!
Your new board and committee members have already been hard at work. In a special board meeting on September 4, the board passed a preliminary budget proposal to fund this website, allocate $1,000 to the cleanup of the park from Hurricane Beryl, and to approve our budget for National Night Out. Let’s give a shout out to Kevin Miller, Luke LaVanda and Rod Breese for their work at the park on September 20 cleaning up the storm debris. Working with members from our park landscape team they were able to remove the debris in one day!
Another shout out goes to Hilary Gibbs and Tom Scarsella for planting and nurturing the new pine tree seedlings earlier this year in the Lake View esplanade. Hilary and Tom have been doing this for a long time, as you can see by the saplings growing there from previous years’ efforts.
Our National Night Out celebration was a huge success with more than three dozen adults and over a dozen children in attendance. Many thanks to Greg & Diana Haronitis and Family for once again organizing and hosting. Thanks also to Athena’s Corner for their generous donation of food. And thanks to our friends from the City of Pasadena Police and Fire Departments and Councilman Schoenbein for their attendance and entertainment for the children!
The board met again on October 9 for a regular quarterly meeting. I’m happy to announce the formation of three new committees for El Cary Estates. A Park Committee has been created to coordinate and oversee improvements to the park area, with Director Luke LaVanda as its chair and members yet to be determined. The Governance Committee was created to help us ensure compliance with HOA law and regulations with Director Lynn Irvine as its chair and Treasurer Kristi Poole a member. The Communications Committee is created to manage our website and other property owner communications channels. President Ron Poole will chair this committee until more volunteers can be identified to take it over. Our Architectural Planning Committee has been part of our community since the beginning. Rod Breese is the committee chair with John Bertolini and Heather Minter as members. We also formalized the Compliance Committee with Garey DeLozier and John Bertolini. The name is new, but Garey and John have been working together for years doing this work of handling neighborhood and code issues.
By now you can tell there is growing energy in our community! We hope you will want to participate on one of these committees. The time commitments are minimal, but the work is rewarding and so much fun! Reach out on the Contact Page, or just email us at ElCaryEstatesIA@gmail.com if you can help us. Remember that our board meetings are open to all property owners. Please come and join us.
